Backing Storage VS Internal/ Main Memory
Definition of Main/ Internal MemoryMemory used by a computer system when processing or storing information. RAM (Random Access Memory) can be read and written while using programs; the more RAM a system has, faster it will run. ROM (Read Only Memory) holds permanent data that cannot be changed; it normally used to store the essential program drivers (or firmware) needed to start your computer.

Definition of Backing storageAny type of data storage device apart from RAM or ROM. This includes the hard disc drive found inside most PCs and normally used to store data permanently, even when the computer is turned off.

Facts of Internal MemoryInternal memory is faster to access data than backing storage. It is volatile, need to copy data from computer. It is much smaller than backing storage, because it is so smaller that it cannot save as many data than backing storage.

Facts of backing storageBacking storage is slower than internal memory, it is not-volatile, can direct save (not like internal memory) and more saving storage than Internal Memory.
